The BQ2944L9DRBR PMIC is a fully protected Li-ion and Li-poly battery management system. It includes a combination of current and voltage sensing, cell balancing, and programmable protection functions to ensure the safe operation of a Li-ion/Li-poly battery system. The device integrates 5 parameter sensors, analog-to-digital converters (ADC), charge protection, and gas gauging logic, time measuring circuitry and other hardware necessary to implement a total solution.

The BQ2944L9DRBR device requires five analog inputs to measure the cell voltages, current and temperature of the Li-ion/ Li-poly cells. It utilizes an on-chip 18-bit ADC to accurately convert the analog inputs to digital format. Additionally, it includes a temperature measurement, precision die temperature measurement and over-temperature protection for Li-ion cells.The BQ2944L9DRBR PMIC features built-in, programmable safety and safety functions, such as over-current, over-voltage and under-voltage, cell balancing and short circuit detection and protection. The device also implements an accurate gas-gauging algorithm to accurately estimate battery capacity levels.
