The BQ34Z651DBT is a regulated charge controller for single-cell to 18-cell battery packs, and a regulated discharge controller for up to 6-cell packs. It also contains an in-built safety circuit for open- and short-circuit protection, and overcharge, over-discharge, and over-temperature protection as well. When the pack voltage rises above the safe level, the charge controller will shut down the charging of the battery.
The BQ34Z651DBT Gas Gauge IC also features an EPROM-based secure access system, with user-programmable secure keys, to prevent tampering with the IC and Safeguard high-value content. Furthermore, it includes an on-chip wake-up controller, which allows the system to reduce the BQ34Z651DBT power consumption in its inactive states. The device also includes a power-management-focused Reg-Stop mode, where the MCU can down-regulate to reduce the device power consumption while still maintaining the accuracy of the fuel gauge’s measurements.
