The BQ4802YDW clock/timing real time clock application is a precision low power temperature-compensated real-time clock (RTC) with a diewire bus, offering superior performance and accuracy for embedded system applications. The chip is designed with an onboard 32.768 kHz crystal which provides the clock and calendar accuracy of ±2 PPM from 0°C to 70°C, and a power-fail detect circuit for battery-backed applications. The chip is capable of generating alarms and is compatible with alarms/timers from other manufacturers such as NXP and Atmel.

The BQ4802YDW provides a 32-bit serial synchronous bus interface with support for all standard bus protocol commands, including read/write bursts, register protection and bus write timeouts. It also supports a software-programmable crystal oscillator range of 8 to 12.8 MHz.

The BQ4802YDW is manufactured using advanced CMOS technology and incorporates a precision temperature-compensated oscillator (TCXO) and a temperature sensor to compensate for any temperature-related drift and provide a stable clock signal.
