The BTS736L2 is an Integrated Dual Low-Side Smart High-Side (LESATI) Switch developed by STMicroelectronics. It has been designed to support applications requiring a high level of integration and features multiple safety, protection and diagnostics features. It is fully compatible with both 3.3V, 4.2V and 5V logic and is suitable for many automotive, industrial and consumer applications such as automotive electronic control units, solenoid valves control, low voltage DC motor control, heater and air conditioning control, security systems, and current limit or battery charging systems.

Working Principle

The BTS736L2 is a low-side and high-side integrated switch solution consisting of a dedicated low-side N-Channel MOSFET, two 10V Boost Regulators, an overvoltage threshold circuitry and dedicated protection and diagnosis functions stored in a proprietary software. The switch uses two independent low-side output control gates to enable / disable the corresponding high-side and low-side outputs. The two independent outputs can be used to control two independent functions. It is designed to be placed directly on the supply voltage and is highly efficient, thanks to its low operating input voltage and its proprietary active clamping circuit.

The integrated protection and diagnosis functions detect several conditions, including overvoltage and current limit, overtemperature and short-circuit conditions. Furthermore, BTS736L2 includes an option for automatic electronic shut down (ESD) in case of overvoltage. This feature is enabled by a dedicated software algorithm, stored in a 32-bit embedded microprocessor.
