The BYS459F series 1500V 3A silicon epitaxial Schottky barrier rectifier diode belongs to the category of diodes, rectifiers, and single diodes. This model has a high current capacity, high efficiency, and fast response time with a low forward voltage drop of 0.53V and 0.60V usable up to 3A. Moreover, it has the added benefit of high temperature operation in harsh conditions. It is suitable for any kind of medium-power regulated or non-regulated power supply, DC-DC converter, or electronic ballast applications.

The BYS459F series operates with a Schottky barrier diode. A Schottky diode is a semiconductor diode with a low forward voltage drop and fast switching action. Unlike standard diodes, Schottky diodes do not have a a junction between the n-type and p-type semiconductors. Instead, a metal anode is directly connected to a barrier layer on the n-type semiconductor. This direct connection reduces the forward voltage drop and allows for faster switching than the conventional p-n junction diode. In addition, it can also handle higher power levels than standard diodes.

The BYS459F series silicon epitaxial Schottky barrier rectifier diode has two main terminals, the anode and cathode. The anode is connected to the positive voltage and the cathode is connected to the negative voltage. When a forward bias voltage is applied across the diode, the electrical current flows from the anode to the cathode and the diode starts conducting. However, if the voltage is reversed, the diode does not allow any current to flow and it becomes non-conductive.
