BZD17C18P R3G Application Field and Working Principle
The BZD17C18P R3G is a single Zener diode which achieves stable voltage regulation by efficiently maintaining a constant voltage in the output across the operating temperature range and load variations. The device is ideal for applications requiring tight voltage regulation and has low current consumption and low noise operation.The device is designed to provide voltage regulation within a variety of electronic circuits and systems, including analog and digital circuits, low-noise power supplies, and portable or automotive electronics. It is typically used in voltage stabilizing applications, such as voltage regulators and voltage limiters. Compared to linear voltage regulators, Zener diodes offer greater efficiency, as well as lower noise and cost.The BZD17C18P R3G single Zener diode is composed of a PN junction with a built-in reverse breakdown voltage in the region of 18 V. Its peak forward current range is from 10 mA to 100 mA, and its peak non-repetitive surge current is from 200 mA to 1 A. It also has a power rating of 500 mW at 25°C and a reverse breakdown voltage of 18 V.The working principle of the BZD17C18P R3G is based on the fact that when a voltage is applied to a PN junction, the current passing through it is determined by the applied voltage and the junction’s reverse leakage current. When a voltage greater than the junction’s breakdown voltage is applied, it begins to conduct current in the reverse direction. This is known as the Zener effect. This reversed leakage current maintains a relatively constant voltage across the PN junction when the current passes through it in the reverse direction.Therefore, when the BZD17C18P R3G acts as a regulator, its job is to maintain a constant voltage at the output terminal of the circuit. This is accomplished by the continuous conduction of a stable reverse leakage current, which maintains the output voltage of the circuit to a fixed level. The PN junction is designed such that a small variation in the input voltage results in a large variation in the reverse leakage current, thus ensuring that the output voltage remains constant even in the presence of high-level transients and voltage surges.To sum it up, the BZD17C18P R3G is a single Zener diode which offers excellent performance in the form of efficient voltage regulation, low current consumption and low noise operation. It is designed to provide voltage regulation in a variety of electronic circuits and systems.
