Working Principle of the BZD17C62P M2G

The BZD17C62P M2G is composed of two sections: the anode and the cathode. The anode acts as the input voltage and the cathode acts as the output voltage. The working principle of the device is similar to that of a regular diode; however, the voltage across the device is regulated and maintained at a constant value by the positive temperature coefficient of the zener breakdown voltage. This breakdown voltage is externally determined by the current through the anode and the resistance of the cathode being connected to the diode body. The breakdown voltage of the diode is determined by the zener voltage rating of the device.

When the input voltage is applied to the anode, the current through the diode will increase until it reaches the zener breakdown voltage. Once this breakdown voltage is reached, the current is limited by the zener breakdown voltage and no further increase in current occurs. The current is then maintained at the same level until the voltage across the diode exceeds the breakdown voltage. This breakdown voltage is referred to as the zener voltage and is the same across all BZD17C62P M2G devices.

The main advantage of this device is that it can provide very tightly regulated voltages with very little variation and it is not affected by changes in the input voltage. Additionally, the diode has a very low temperature coefficient and is therefore ideal for use in applications where high temperature stability is required.
