Working Principle:
A Zener diode is a two-terminal electronic component that behaves like a normal diode at forward bias and like a reverse-biased resistor at reverse bias. It consists of an anode and cathode and when the voltage across the junction exceeds the breakdown voltage (or Zener voltage) of the diode, current starts to flow in the reverse direction and the diode remains in a reverse-biased state. This is called Zener breakdown. The breakdown voltage of the diode is adjustable through the manufacturing process and that is why they are used in many applications like voltage regulation, protection and clamping.
The BZW03C36-TAP is a single Zener diode with a maximum average forward current of 6A and maximum repetitive peak & reverse voltage of 36V. It offers low noise, low forward voltage drop and great resistance to temperature cycling.
