A PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) is a device that works with various power sources to provide power management and energy saving for microprocessors, peripherals, and other components. PMICs are commonly used in consumer electronics and mobile computing devices. PMICs are made up of several ICs, each of which performs a specific set of tasks. Supervisors, or supervisory circuits, are one of the many types of ICs that make up a PMIC. Supervisors provide system monitoring, monitoring of power supply levels, overvoltage and undervoltage protection, power supply sequencing and sequencing/initializing of other ICs, as well as system reset functionality. The CAX809RTBI-T3 is a supervisor that is designed for use in mobile computing applications and is designed to provide system monitoring and reset functionality. It features a proprietary T-station reset circuit that performs system reset within 1.63ms. It has an analog/digital power monitor that automatically detects the presence of a valid supply voltage. It also provides three status indicators that can be used to reflect the system power up sequence. The reset outputs have an in-built 1 second timer and can be routed to the system reset pin, NMI or SMI input or a GPIO pin.

The CAX809RTBI-T3 is designed to use the supply voltage as the primary reset source. It monitors the supply voltage and generates a reset if the supply voltage drops below a pre-defined trip voltage level. It also has an override reset input which can be used to force a system reset independent of the supply voltage. The CAX809RTBI-T3 also has a thermal diode to monitor and protect against thermal overload as well as an open drain active low reset output.
