SAW filters are common electronic components utilized in communication systems to eliminate undesired frequencies. CBPFS-1880 is a new type of SAW (surface acoustic wave) filter, with some major advances over earlier SAW filters.
The CBPFS-1880 utilizes an improved thin-film resonator with an increased operating temperature range and long-term stability that enables further miniaturization of components. This SAW filter is able to suppress noises and interferers at an ultra-high frequency of up to 6GHz. Consequently, it is suitable for use in cellular system and WLAN applications.
The CBPFS-1880 has a small size suitable for integration in compact circuit boards. As a result, it minimizes both footprint size and power dissipation. Additionally, this filter’s operating temperature range is 0C to +85C, making it resistant to wider temperature range than traditional SAW filters to meet stringent industrial standards. Furthermore, its low insertion loss is suitable for Mobile Side Radio Frequency (MSRF) applications, like WiMAX and WiBro.
In terms of working principle, the CBPFS-1880 uses an acoustic wave which propagates along the surface of a piezoelectric substrate. Its frequency is determined by the length of waveguide on the substrate. By adjusting the resonators’ lengths, the filter’s frequency can be fine-tuned to user specifications. The acoustic wave is then separated by the electrical output resonators and other passive components.
In summary, the CBPFS-1880 is an advanced SAW filter with increased temperature range, long-term stability and miniaturization that allows further integration in circuit boards.
