A decade counter is one that counts from zero to nine and then cycles back to zero, so this IC has two decade counters. It is 8-bit wide, 16-pin DIP integrated circuit with a maximum operating frequency of 3MHz. It is constructed with MOS technology, making it more reliable than traditional divider circuits.</p> <p>In its working principle, the input clock pulses is provided to the clock enable (Ck-In) input of the IC, feeding the output of one counting chain to its next one, ultimately resetting it to zero. The division ratio of the counter is up to 10^10, or one billion.</p> <p>CD40102BNSRs are widely used to divide input clocks of higher frequency into lower frequency clocks in the application fields of laboratory equipment, data acquisition systems, measuring instruments and even digital clock circuits.
