The CD4024BE is an integrated circuit integrated circuit counter-divider (sometimes referred to as a Decade Counter) with a single output that can be controlled by multiple input signals. It is used in circuitry that requires counting of external pulses, such as in the timing systems of televisions, computers, power supplies, and other electronic circuits.It is a relatively simple IC which consists of an array of four logic gates, a flip-flop, and a preset output register. The IC is constructed from fourteen CMOS logic gates. It uses up to 27 TTL/CMOS compatible inputs for control functions. Alternatively, if two inputs are present, the output will be a one second pulse at one quarter the frequency of the input (250 milliseconds). This is useful in digital systems that must divide incoming signals into smaller intervals.The CD4024BE can also be used as a decade counter, as the output state can be used to control the starting point of the count. When combined with two or more gates and one or more outputs, the CD4024BE can be used to perform various counting functions.
