CDB5461A Application field and Working Principle
Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits offer multiple advantages for experimenting, testing and prototyping. Their primary purpose is to lower the development cost and reduce the system development time. One of the most important items among all the evaluation boards and kits are the CDB5461A Evaluation Boards. CDB5461A adopts a multi-channel "on-server" architecture which is designed to integrate multiple system channels, and bring distributed computing power and large-capacity storage capabilities to the client.
This Evaluation Board is used for the evaluation of the performance of Xilinx FPGA-based systems. With a full image detection processing architecture based on an embedded Linux operating system, focusing on the application areas such as Video Surveillance, Smart Home, Smart City, Industrial Imaging, and Artificial Intelligence, the board is well-suited to develop and evaluate new applications..
The CDB5461A supports the SmartNIC Application Acceleration Framework which enables seamless integration of application-specific acceleration functions into the client application. This allows for highly-optimized implementations for PowerEthernet Control Plane (L2 features such as Network VLANs, Link Aggregations and Redundancy) and application-specific IP functions such as IP Multicast, ACCE Function and Image recognition. The IP functions perform at line rate and accelerate frame processing to offer higher throughput.
The CDB5461A board works on a switch/bridge forwarding equation and an eight-port Gigabit Ethernet. It also offers 10G x4 ports with optional uplinks that provide a maximum of eight channels for larger systems and can integrate a board-level PCIe link. It offers maximum system performance through Data Center Bridging support. This provides increased data sharing over vPC, PortChannels, and other Layer-2 protocols.
The CDB5461A hardware platform also includes Full Duplex MAC function and K7 selection which supports for full image processing modules. This ensures that the throughput rate of the board is maximized even for large image data processing and that the latency is kept at minimum. The system architecture is based on the SmartNIC Application Acceleration Framework which reduces CPU and memory load for applications and operators.
CDB5461A also offers a wide range of high-speed I/O interface options including 10G x4 ports, supporting 8 ports optionally, eXternal Interface (XFI) ports, two SERDES, SerCosta™ interface, and PCI-e. The board-level PCI-e interfaces can easily be configured to host either off-the-shelf PCI-e devices or custom developed hardware accelerators. The board-level PCIe link can be used to rapidly integrate and evaluate custom IP blocks, significantly reducing the time to market.
To improve user experience, the board offers user friendly peripherals including an USB 3.0 port, an RS-232 serial port, and other hardware features such as expansion connector and mini-ITX form factor. The board can be operated in either stand-alone mode, or as part of an integrated development environment for full system design.
Overall, the CDB5461A board is one of the most powerful and flexible development and evaluation boards for FPGA-based applications. It not only simplifies the implementation of new applications, but also gives developers a fast and convenient way to prototype and deploy their products.
