CDB6143-1 is a evaluation board and kit that is widely used in the fields of industrial applications, medical, automotive and communications due to its varied features. This is a high-performance wide input range synchronous step-down converter featuring full-featured current sharing capability and full reliability. It is capable of delivering up to 8A of continuous output current at up to 95V input voltage. The evaluation board is designed to ensure safe demarcation between the power components of the converter and the system to be developed, enabling users to efficiently develop, evaluate and verify their system.

The board provides flexibility in testing and operating by providing a wide selection of input voltage and output current ranges. This board also helps the users to ensure their system is operating correctly and effectively before transferring the system from the evaluation board to the target application.

The CDB6143-1 evaluation board and kit is supplied along with a tested reference design/development board and all the necessary components including two power switches, an adjustable-gain buck-converter, an input capacitor, an output capacitor and a voltage regulator output regulator. This board is also equipped with a USB interface and a debug port to enable users to easily and quickly debug their system, a user interface and two MOSFET drivers, making it easy to program the board.

The working principle of the evaluation board and kit is based on a step-down, synchronous buck-converter, which is implemented using N-channel enhanced MOSFETs as the switches and adaptive frequency control techniques. This technique allows the board to efficiently convert an input voltage range from 4.5V to 95V, into an output of up to 8A at a very high efficiency. An input voltage of 12V is the best suggestion which offers minimum stress on the components of the board and often provides the highest efficiency.

The board is equipped with two overload protection mechanisms. The first one is over current protection which limits the maximum current delivered to the output, protecting both the board and the system from any potential damage. The second one is short-circuit protection, which shuts down the output when the actual current reaches its predefined value.

The other significant feature of the CDB6143-1 evaluation and kit is its wide variety of features which make it ideal for a wide range of industrial and medical applications such as power systems for medical devices, automobiles, communication systems and consumer applications. The USB interface enables the board to be connected to a PC so users can monitor and debug their system without having to be physically present on the board.
