Working Principle

A diode operates in two distinct states: forward bias and reverse bias. When the anode of a diode is positive with respect to its cathode, this state is referred to as forward bias. Current can flow from the anode to cathode in a forward biased diode. The CDBB120-G operates as a rectifier when in forward bias. This means that it allows current to flow in one direction only, blocking the flow of current in the opposite direction. When the cathode of a diode is positive with respect to the anode, this state is referred to as reverse bias. Current does not flow from the cathode to anode in a reverse biased diode. The CDBB120-G is an ultrafast, low power rectifier, which means it has a very low voltage drop in the forward direction and a very high speed when switching from a forward to reverse bias state.
