The CDC111FNR is a clock buffer, driver, divider and deskew IC that provides multiple outputs from a single input signal. To protect against signal degradation due to PCB trace parasitics, it has a true LVDS signal transfer system and a configurable bias current for improved signal integrity. In addition, it supports the use of a wide range of input signal formats, including sinusoidal, non-sinusoidal and time-stamped signal formats. The CDC111FNR can be used in applications that require synchronization of multiple clocks, providing very accurate frequency and phase alignment between the output signal and the reference signal.

The CDC111FNR clock buffer and driver supports three types of operations: Fractional-N Frequency Synthesis mode, Clock Buffer mode, and Clock Divider/ Deskew mode. In Fractional-N Frequency Synthesis mode, it can frequency-modulate the output signal frequency over a range of +/-25%, providing very accurate output signal frequency and phase control from an input reference signal rate. In this mode, it also supports the use of Programmable Arbitrary Waveforms. This is ideal for applications requiring synchronization of multiple clocks.

In Clock Buffer mode, the CDC111FNR can be used to buffer a high-speed input signal, providing multiple outputs of the same frequency, but allowing for skew between them for applications such as processor synchronous clock distribution. By setting the appropriate bias currents, the output signal waveform and rise/fall times can be adjusted to match the input signal waveform shape.

In Clock Divider/Deskew mode, the CDC111FNR provides the ability to divide the input signal frequency and, by setting the appropriate bias currents, can adjust the output signal waveform, rise/fall time, and skew between the outputs. This mode of operation is commonly used for DSP and ASIC clock generation, and for data communications applications. It can also be used for adjusting the average output level of an audio signal.

The CDC111FNR is ideal for applications such as high-speed computing, storage, data communication and audio, where precise synchronization of multiple clocks is required. Its true LVDS signal transfer system provides improved signal integrity, while its programmable features allow for improved synchronization performance.
