Working Principle of CDLL3025B

At the Zener breakdown voltage, the junction breaks down and current starts flowing rapidly through the diode. This breakdown of the diode is what allows for the voltage regulation of the device.

 The amount of current and voltage that flows through the diode is a function of the device\'s design. The breakdown voltage (VZ) of the diode is determined by the width of the depletion layer and the width of the active region. A higher breakdown voltage is achieved when the width of the depletion layer is increased. Additionally, a lower leakage current is achieved with a wider depletion layer.

 The forward voltage drop of the diode depends on the reverse voltage applied and the type of material used in the diode. The forward voltage drop is usually quite low as compared to other zener diodes. The forward voltage drop increases with increasing temperature as the voltage at which the current starts to increase with increasing temperature increases.

Applications
