The CDLL4471 is a single Zener diode that is used to protect electronic devices from high voltage spikes, prevent unwanted electromagnetic interference (EMI) and reduce power dissipation in the application circuit. The CDLL4471 is a low power version of the CDLL 4400 series diode, which features a low volage drop operation and a high power handling capability making it suitable for use in systems where a large amount of power handling is required.The CDLL4471 is constructed from highly reliable, stable and long lasting Zener type semiconductor materials. It has a wide operating voltage range from 3.2 V to 100 V and reverse breakdown voltages from 25V to 100 V. The maximum power dissipation of the device is 1.25W and the maximum peak pulse current is 25A. The diode also features a low on-state voltage drop of 0.5V when conducting while reverse breakdown voltage is kept relatively low.CDLL4471 device is available in a small SOT-23 package, making it suitable for small applications. The diode is also available in an open leaded package making it easier to incorporate into larger designs. It can also be used in automotive circuits and high reliability applications due to its low leakage current and low EMI characteristics.The CDLL4471 works on the principle of reverse biasing the semiconductor junction configured between the P and N type layers. When the reverse bias reaches a certain point, it creates a highly localized electric field within the PN junction that produces a small current flow through the junction. This current is called Zener breakdown current and it is maintained until the applied voltage reaches the Zener voltage of the diode. When the reverse biased voltage reaches the Zener voltage of the diode, the device starts conducting in the reverse direction to prevent overvoltage on the circuit. The device is a fast switching device and can operate over a wide range of temperatures and frequencies making it suitable for a variety of applications. The low on-state voltage drop and low reverse current of the device makes it suitable for use in applications such as power supplies, voltage regulators, and EMI suppressors.The CDLL4471 is widely used in a variety of electronic applications, such as in computer systems, mobile phones, portable electronic devices, automotive systems and in industrial circuit designs. In computer systems, the device can be used to prevent higher than expected voltages from damaging sensitive components, as well as to reduce system noise arising from EMI.
