CDLL5245 Application Field and Working Principle

Working Principle

The main working principle of a Zener diode or CDLL5245 is reverse-bias breakdown. When the diode is connected to a reverse bias voltage, a low current flows through the diode. As the voltage rises, the current through the diode increases, until the diode reaches its reverse breakdown voltage. At this point, the voltage across the diode remains constant, and a large current can flow through the diode. This is termed as the Zener breakdown voltage. This voltage is generally stable, even as the current through the diode increases.

The voltage reference and the power regulation of the CDLL5245 is achieved by the combination of a resistor and the diode in series. When the voltage across the diode is regulated, the current through the resistor is regulated.
