Working Principle of CDLL5263A
CDLL5263A is a single-package Zener diode, which can be used as a voltage regulator, voltage clamping, AC/DC rectification, power switching and signal diode protection. It works on the principle of Zener diode which is used as a voltage regulator. When a forward biased voltage is applied across it, it starts to conduct current, while in reverse biased the junction will not let any current to flow through it. In the Zener diode, this reverse biased junction has a fixed breakdown voltage which is called the Zener Voltage (Vz). When a reverse bias voltage crosses this fixed breakdown voltage, the diode starts to conduct current. This current will form a stable voltage across the diode and it is called the Zener Voltage.
When a load is connected across the diode, it will start to draw current. The current being drawn can this diode can be regulated by applying a suitable Zener voltage across it. So, the diode acts like an electrical regulator which will be able to provide a stable voltage across the load, irrespective of the amount of current being drawn from the load. This helps in maintaining the voltage across the load during a period of load fluctuations.
