A CDLL5922D is a type of single Zener diode, which is a semiconductor device that\'s generally used to allow current to move in one direction, while blocking current from moving in the opposite direction. It mainly functions as a protection device to prevent damage from a reverse voltage spike. This type of diode has an anode and cathode, but with a single-zener diode, the anode and cathode are connected in a single pn junction. It is designed to have a specific amount of reverse-biased breakdown voltage. Working Principle:

When used as a device in power supply applications, the CDLL5922D allows the current to flow in a single direction while blocking current from flowing in the opposite direction. It also works as a protection device to prevent damage from a reverse voltage spike. The CDLL5922D operates based on the principle of a Zener breakdown. When a reverse voltage is applied, the transistor\'s depletion region has electrons which are attracted to the applied electric field. As the voltage is excessive for current to flow, the electrons break away from their parent atom and cross the depletion region. This creates an avalanche effect where electrons created by their predecessors are energized and the effect is sustained till the breakdown voltage has been achieved.

The active device of the CDLL5922D also works using the Zener breakdown principle. The Zener breakdown occurs when the reverse-biased electric field becomes so intense that it causes some electrons to break away from their parent atoms and cross the depletion zone without a corresponding electron from the traditional drift current. This causes electrons to be multiplied and creates a flow of electrons in the opposite direction. This flow of electrons is called the Zener current and the voltage at which this occurs is the Zener voltage.

The CDLL5922D is an ideal device to protect against excessive reverse voltage. The Zener breakdown voltage of the device allows it to clamp the voltage at a specific level, which prevents any further damage to the power supply.
