The CDLL5934B Zener diode is a voltage regulator diode mainly used for the protection of power supplies. Working Principle

A Zener diode is a silicon junction diode which has been specially designed to operate in the reverse bias condition. In the forward bias condition, it behaves like a normal diode allowing current to pass in one direction only. In the reverse bias condition, it behaves like a resistor, allowing the current to pass in both directions. The resistance of the diode remains constant even if the voltage across it changes. This constant resistance allows the CDLL5934B device to provide an accurate reference for secondary protection in power supplies.

When the voltage across the CDLL5934B is higher than the Zener voltage, the diode will conduct current in the reverse direction. As the current passes through the diode, it begins to lower the voltage at the output and keep it at the Zener voltage, thus creating a regulated voltage reference.
