CDLL6327 Application Field and Working Principle

Working Principle
As a single-pole device, the CDLL6327 has two primary elements, n-type and p-type semiconductor material, which are necessary for its operation. When the diode is forward-biased, the positive p-side and the negative n-side form a junction which allows a flow of current through the device. When the voltage applied to the diode increases beyond the built-in breakdown value, the device will start to conduct in the reverse direction, in a process known as Zener breakdown. This causes the diode to operate in the Zener voltage-regulating process with a constant voltage reference.
When the reverse voltage across the diode falls below the Zener breakdown voltage, the current flow will stop and the diode\'s resistance will increase. When the voltage exceeds the Zener breakdown voltage again, the current will resume and a voltage potential will remain to clamp the increasing voltage.
This process continues until the magnitude of the reverse voltage is reduced enough or the maximum rectified current rating is exceeded. This action continues to regulate the incoming voltage. Since the reverse leakage current is small, the CDLL6327 can be used in a wide temperature range from -65C to +175C.
