CDLL6340 Application Field and Working Principle

The CDLL6340 is an integrated electrical signal device classified as a single Zener diode. Working Principle

The CDLL6340 is constructed using silicone as the base material. It consists of two N-type and one P-type region. It has an integrated PN-junction diode which has a reverse abrupt breakdown voltage (also known as the Zener voltage). This voltage is highly accurate and reproduced when the IC is manufactured.

When the reverse voltage applied to the diode is below breakdown voltage, no current flows through the device. However, when the voltage exceeds the breakdown voltage, then the Zener diode conducts and clamps the voltage to the reverse breakdown voltage.

When the device is in a saturated mode, it is able to maintain the breakdown voltage even when the input voltage is increased. When the device is in an unsaturated mode, the breakdown voltage is reduced, but the voltage still remains above 0.7 V.

The CDLL6340 can also be used in various applications such as active ESD protection, overvoltage protection, power supply protection and current limiting applications. It is also used to reduce noise and improve the efficiency of power circuits. The device can be used in high frequency isolated applications and low power switching applications.
