TVS - Diodes are a class of devices used to protect electronics from damage caused by electrical overstresses. CDNBS08-SRDA15-4 is a Transcient Voltage Suppression (TVS) diode specifically designed to protect against ESD. The core operating principle of CDNBS08-SRDA15-4 is based on a clamped mode of operation. In the clamped mode of operation, the diode behaves like a surge suppression element and clamps a voltage or current abnormality to a safe value.The device consists of three layers of protection: two outer diodes that form a back-to-back structure, and an inner zener diode.The outer diodes act as clamping elements that help to block any overcurrents from destroying the circuit while the inner zener diode helps to hold the voltage at a safe level. The combination of the two offers the best possible protection from overvoltages and overcurrents.

The CDNBS08-SRDA15-4 features DPAK package which is a surface mount package with a configuration which has leads on opposite faces that can be soldered to circuit boards. The package also includes an epoxy-molded body for extra protection to the device. The device also offers an improved peak power capability of up to 3.6kW with 8.0A. It has a standby current of 0.1mA, reverse voltage of 6V and a peak pulse power dissipation of 8A.

The CDNBS08-SRDA15-4’s clamping voltage is 15V at 8A, and they have low capacitance offering high performance in high speed data line applications. Its RoHS compliant lead-free alloy construction ensures compliance with the EU RoHS directive and minimizes waste disposal cost associated with lead based products.The device also features low ESD max. capacitance of 3.8pF and low leakage current so that the device does not interfere with the operation of the circuit.
