Fixed inductors (also known as inductors) are electronic components that are designed to store energy in an electric field in the form of a magnetic field. They are typically composed of two coils of wire wound around a ferromagnetic core made of ferrite or iron. The working principle of fixed inductors is based on Faraday\'s law of induction, which states that the voltage or current in a circuit is proportional to the rate of change of the magnetic flux linking with the circuit. A changing magnetic field in the inductor induces a voltage in the coils of the inductor. When the magnetic field is constant, no voltage will be induced in the coils. The magnitude of the voltage induced in the coils is directly proportional to the rate of change of the magnetic field.
A fixed inductor operates by storing energy in a magnetic field that forms around the core of the inductor. When a voltage is applied across the two coils of the inductor, a current is induced which causes magnetic flux to be generated around the core. This field increases with current, storing energy in the form of magnetic field. When the current is terminated, the magnetic flux produced by the inductor will begin to collapse, releasing the stored energy through the coils and creating an opposing back EMF.
