CDSOT23-T03

Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) diodes are a type of unidirectional surge protection devices designed for overvoltage protection of low-voltage power and signal circuits. Under normal operating conditions, these diodes are non-conductive, while under transient conditions, such as electrostatic discharges, they enter a conductive state and can safely provide fast surge current flow, diverting potentially damaging energy away from the protected circuit.

The CDSOT23-T03 is a low-capacitance, SOT23 package surface mount transient voltage suppressor diode. This is a Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) device designed to protect voltage sensitive components from damaging electrostatic discharges (ESD). This device has a low-impedance, fast responding diode construction that provides bidirectional ESD protection for single-ended signals. The low clamping voltage and low series resistance reduces power dissipation and enhances system reliability, providing the capability to protect two lines.

Application Field

The CDSOT23-T03 TVS diode is designed to protect against electrostatic discharge, power transients, and inductive load switching on sensitive circuit boards. It is ideal for these applications where space is at a premium from the board layout. Working Principle

When an ESD event occurs, the CDSOT23-T03 TVS diode will conduct current and divert it away from the protected device. It has a low clamping voltage, which allows it to limit the voltage and dissipate power more effectively. Its fast response time and low series resistance also reduce power dissipation, making it more reliable for sensitive equipment.

The CDSOT23-T03 also features a “snap back” functionality, which means that during overvoltage conditions, it will instantly switch back into its non-conductive state once the transient has subsided. This ensures that no damage is done to the protected device or circuitry.

In order to function reliably, the CDSOT23-T03 TVS diode should be adequately heat-sinked in order to dissipate the energy efficiently.
