TVS - Varistors, MOVs are designed to protect sensitive electronic components within a system from voltage transients generated either from external sources such as lightning or internal sources such as load switching. Therefore, it is important to choose the right transient voltage suppressor (TVS) device to provide proper protection. The CG0603MLC-12E is a chip transient voltage suppressor devicethat combines both metal oxide varistor (MOV) and PTC for surge protection.

The CG0603MLC- 12E chip is designed to protect up to two lines against both overvoltage and overcurrent. It provides twelve volts of breakdown voltage and 0.1 Ohms of low parasitic resistance. The device can handle up to 8 amperes of peak current. The peak power capability is rated up to 48 watts. The CG0603MLC-12E working principle is based on the principle of an MOV.
