Aluminum electrolytic capacitors were born in the early twentieth century mainly to replace the bulky, leaky condensers of the day. The construction of this type of capacitor is based on two pieces of aluminum foil, one is a cathode and the other is an anode, together with a thin membrane called an electrolytic paper, as separator. When these three components are joined to each other they form the basis of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor.
The CGS253U050R4C capacitor is a radial lead, non-polarized component specifically designed to meet the requirements of higher frequency power electronics applications.
