The CM75TU-12H is an Intrinsic Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) module, used in power electronic applications where a high power density, high frequency switching and ease of integration is desired. The module is also generally referred to as an Insulated Gate Commutated Thyristor (IGCT).

The CM75TU-12H is an integrated IGBT package of six 600V/125 A devices allowing it to be used in a wide range of applications such as motor drives, AC motor control, power supplies and more. This module is suitable for high speed switching and can be used for both low frequency and high frequency operations. It has excellent dynamic characteristics suitable for applications involving Power Factor Correction (PFC) and non-pulsed medium to high frequency inverters.

The module consists of six low-power IGBTs in the same package and is electrically insulated from the board by an integrated electrical insulating tape. This makes it eligible to be used in high voltage and high current applications. The device also has a built-in fast reverse recovery diode. This eliminates the need for a separate diode to easily integrate a fast turn-off and eliminate shoot-through currents.

The CM75TU-12H has 12 terminals and a reinforced insulation properties for over 1000V of isolation. Its Low Thermal Resistance (Rth) allows for high power dissipation and its Rail-to-Rail design allows for low inductance and high current capabilities. It is available in different voltage and current formats with multiple options for varistor and current sensing.

The CM75TU-12H works on a principle of two thyristors connected in inverse parallel with the insulation layer between them. Gate Currents are applied to the two gates so that they turn-on and buck the negative terminal at the same time. This current is then transferred to the positive terminal. Once the current is passed to the positive terminal, the voltage on the two terminals is converted to zero. This shutdowns both thyristors and isolates them.

The module has a maximum frequency of 1.25 kHz which offers excellent switching capability for power electronic applications. The module also offers low switching losses of 41-56mJ and short recovery time of 3-4us. The operating temperature range of the CM75TU-12H ranges from -40°C to 150°C with a maximum storage temperature of 175°C.
