CMOZ22L TR

The CMOZ22L TR is a single Zener diode with a working principle that is centered around achieving an established breakdown voltage. The device is built from an N-type semiconductor chip and contains a heavily doped PN junction that is reverse biased.

The Zener diode\'s maximum avalanche-voltage ratings are marked with a K coded suffix corresponding to the breakdown voltage. The maximum breakdown voltage of the CMOZ22L TR is 22 volts. When a reverse bias voltage applied to the diode is equal to or greater than the breakdown voltage, the diode will conduct in the reverse direction. The reverse current is the only real amount of current flowing and is at the Zener voltage when no other current is present.

The CMOZ22L TR has a maximum power dissipation of 500 mW and a maximum junction temperature of 150°C. The device is typically used in many application fields, such as voltage-reference applications and circuit degradation protection. It is often used as a shunt regulator to regulate a voltage to a specific level. High surge currents and transient voltage spikes can be handled by the diode, making it an ideal choice for protecting sensitive electronic equipment from over-voltage damage.

In many electronic circuit increases or decreases in the input voltage can result in false triggering of logic circuits. Zener diodes are used to prevent this by providing a reference voltage that will always remain the same regardless of the input voltage. The zener diode also prevents over-voltage of the circuit. When the input voltage increases the zener diode will start to conduct, thus limiting the voltage in the circuit to the breakdown voltage of the Zener diode, for example the CMOZ22L TR.

The Zener diode is also used in amplifier circuits as a voltage-reference component. By installing the component between an amplifier\'s output and its input reference, the device will limit any fluctuations in the input voltage and keep the output from running away from its reference level.
