A directional coupler (or RF directional coupler) is a passive two-port device used to tap off a signal to measure its power or to inject a signal into a line without disturbing the original signal – or, in other words, it helps with the redirecting and combining of two signals. Working Principle of CP0603A0836MLTR Directional Couplers
The CP0603A0836MLTR directional coupler comprises two network sections- a coupling section and a matching section. This section helps to split the signal into two paths- one through the device and one reflected back to the originating source.The matching section comprises two parallel capacitors and an inductor. This section allows the signal to travel form the input to the output without any impediment. The direction of the signal in both these sections is from the input to the output.The reflected signal travels through the inductor of the coupling section and is sent back to the originating source. This is the directional part of the coupler- the signal can travel in only one direction – from the input to the output.The quad capacitor section of the directional coupler is the feedback section that allows signals to travel from the output to the input.
