CP8301AT Application Field and Working Principle

CP8301AT belongs to embedded microcontrollers family and is a low power, low cost 8-bit processor with the following features:

CP8301AT microcontroller’s working principle is the same as other 8-bit microcontrollers, where each instruction consists of up to four bytes that are to be executed one-by-one. The data bus consists of a 8 bit address bus and 8 bit data bus which are both multiplexed as one 16-bit bus. The address bus carries the instruction’s address while the data bus carries the instruction’s data. The outcome of the instruction depends on the data that was present in the memory location. The instruction is stored in the program memory where each instruction is executed sequentially in a program loop. After execution, the processor jumps back to the beginning of the program loop and executes the next instruction.

In addition to the instruction set, the CP8301AT microcontroller also features other hardware features such as its clock/reset circuit and power management module. The clock/reset circuit allows the user to configure the MCU’s clock frequency as well as limiting the current draw. The power management module provides power control of the MCU by setting power states and switching between them, while still maintaining stable voltage levels.
