TVS-DiodesA transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode is a critical component widely used for protecting electronic devices from electrical transients. The CPDQC5V0U-HF is one of the most common TVS diode applications.The CPDQC5V0U-HF is specifically designed for high frequency bipolar transient voltage suppression (TVS) protection of power lines. This diode is characterized by low voltage breaking capability, fast clamping response, and excellent pulse wave power capability. It is optimized for ESD, transformer clamps, and broadband shielding applications, and features high frequency transient protection with low let-through voltage.The CPDQC5V0U-HF is composed of a silicon avalanche diode which is connected in parallel with an NTC retarding resistor, which limits supply surge current for up to forty nanoseconds. The diode has a 600W peak pulse power and a 250W peak pulse power dissipation capability. Furthermore, the rohs-compliant device contains a unidirectional transient voltage suppressor which provides reliable surge protection for high frequency power line applications.The CPDQC5V0U-HF is a Field Effect Transistor, or FET, whose gate voltage is extremely sensitive to high frequency voltage transients. Unlike traditional TVS diodes which dissipate their energy through the p-n junction, the CPDQC5V0U-HF device diverts the incoming surge current into the low-impedance power line, rather than through the diode. By utilizing the low-impedance power line instead of a higher-impedance diode, the energy is dissipated more efficiently, allowing the CPDQC5V0U-HF to provide superior performance and protection for up to forty nanoseconds of surge duration.The CPDQC5V0U-HF offers high-frequency bipolar transient voltage suppression with low let-through voltage. Its low peak current and differential mode requirements ensure that it can protect against a wide range of high frequency voltage transients without causing collateral damage to connected components. It is also designed with a high pulse power rating of 250W and a peak power rating of 600W, making it a reliable device for surge protection.The CPDQC5V0U-HF also features an electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection capability, making it suitable for use in a variety of consumer and industrial applications with limited space.
