CR4802AC, as a member of TVS - Diodes, is a overvoltage protection device that combines TVS and Zener Diode in one device. It offers an economical solution for protecting signals and power lines from transient overvoltage. It has ESD protection of 8 kV contact and 15 kV air and terminate on 6-pin SOT23 and SC70-6 packages of low profile.

The working principle of the CR4802AC is based on voltage pulse spikes from transients or ESD. During normal conditions, when the applied voltage is lower than the clamp voltage, the device will not conduct and thus the signal lines will remain intact. When a transient spike is sensed, the TVS diode will clamp the voltage in order to prevent the overvoltage from getting to the system circuitry. When the voltage falls to the Zener Diode breakdown voltage, the TVS diode will cut off its current and the Zener Diode will be doing the rest and provide protection for the voltage levels.
