Thyristors, or silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCRs) are an important component of power electronics and process control. They are used in circuits where power needs to be regulated, limited, or integrated into a control system. The SCR is a type of semiconductor switch with a power device symbol of four-layered PNPN setup. In the off-state, it acts like an open switch, with no current flowing through.
