CSDL4U (Compressed Sensing Digital Level For Underground Cables) is a method of measuring the underground level of cables. It is a non-destructive testing technology that delivers accurate and reliable measurements with limited sampling of cables. It has been developed by Industrial Data Research Institute (IDRI) in collaboration with Siemens and NHH.
The CSDL4U application field is mainly used in the testing of underground cables in complex environments such as urban and geological areas. It also can be used for large-scale underground power networks, and for the assessment and detection of equipment and components of underground transmission and distribution lines.
The basic principle of the CSDL4U is based on a combination of two technologies: Compressed Sensing (CS) and Digital Level (DL). CS is a technique used to increase the accuracy and speed of measuring. By compressing the data, it enables measurements to be taken with less sampling and reduced errors. On the other hand, DL is a technology used to measure the depth of underground objects. This method combines the CS and DL to measure the depth of underground cables quickly and accurately.
To perform the measurements, the CSDL4U uses two main components: the sensitizer and the receiver. The sensitizer is responsible for transmitting the signal which will form the CS representation of the underground level. The receiver will then detect the signal to measure the exact depth of the cables. Together, both the sensitizer and receiver amplify the signal, allowing the CSDL4U to provide an accurate reading in less time than traditional methods.
Sensitization is done by changing the frequency of the signal, the modulation, and the amplitude. This allows the receiver to detect the signal amplitude of the transmitted signal more accurately. By applying the added sensitivity to the receiver, the CSDL4U will measure the depth to an accuracy of up to 0.01%.
Overall, the CSDL4U is an efficient and accurate method of measuring the depth of underground cables. It can provide reliable measurements with limited sampling, and is particularly useful in complex urban and geological environments. Combined with its measures of attenuation and frequency modulation, the CSDL4U can produce an accurate and reliable reading of the depth of a cable in record time.
