Current transient peak load surveying is one of the most important tasks in power system engineering. It is widely used for power plants arbitration, stability analysis, protection coordination and operational decision making. Current transducers provide an effective and quick way to measure and analyze the peak current which is caused by a power system fault.
Current Sensing Loop Current Attenuation to Estimate Maximum (CSLA2EM) is a newly developed current transducer technology. It is designed to measure peak current in power systems with high accuracy and reliability. CSLA2EM applies to AC power systems which are supplied by a grid of variable voltage and delivers accurate and repeatable measurements of peak acoustic current. The transducer can measure and analyze both steady state and transient current in a variety of conditions including single phase current, three phase current, multi-phase current, and harmonic current.
