Working Principle

CSS50024/I is an AC DC converter based on switch mode operation. It steps down an AC voltage into DC voltage with an external transformer, and rectifies it with a diode bridge rapid rectifier. The DC voltage is then switched using a high-frequency oscillator. After it passes through a low-pass filter, the desired stable output voltage is achieved.The input voltage is determined by an outer transformer, which is an alternating current inductor for a step down voltage. After the transformer steps down the AC voltage, it passes through the bridge diode rectifier circuit to produce a full-wave rectified voltage. The bridge rectifier circuit is integrated into the converter.Since the output of a bridge rectifier is pulsed, some form of ripple is present and a low Pass filter is used to reduce the amount of this ripple. This stage is the output filter stage. The output filter consists of an inductor and a capacitance to form an LC filter. The output voltage can be regulated in various ways and dissipated from the converter with a correct output voltage by controlling the accuracy of the switch on/off. The converter is also designed with a built in control IC, that is responsible for the control of feedback voltage and current. It controls the operating frequency, which is typically in the range of 100KHz – 500KHz, to ensure the output waveform meets relevant regulations.
