CSS50048/TI

CSS50048/TI is an AC/DC converter designed for automotive applications such as motor control, power management, and charging systems. The CSS50048/TI consists of a full-bridge rectifier, a 3-Spring resonant inverter, a soft-start circuit and an error amplifier. Its primary components are made of high-energy ferrite-beaded and low-loss polyester film capacitors, diffusion-bonded to a laminated core. The rectified output is fed to the 3-spring resonant inverter, which uses a hybrid topology to achieve near-zero switching losses, high efficiency and low device stress. The soft-start circuit is used to limit the inrush current at start-up. An error amplifier controls the output voltage and provides loop compensation.

The CSS50048/TI operates within a frequency range of 375 to 550 kHz and can deliver up to 200 A of input current, with an output voltage accuracy of ± 10%. The power efficiency can reach up to 97% and the device can operate without an external cooling device in an ambient temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. Additionally, the device has an adjustable undervoltage locking protection and a thermal shutdown with restart protection which makes it safe to operate in critical applications. It is also integrated with a built-in diagnostic alarm which can detect the different failures that may occur.
