the CY24292LFXC is a clock/timing application specific from the PSoC (Programmable System on Chip) family of Cypress microcontrollers. It is a highly integrated, single-chip solution that combines Clock/Timing functions, analog and digital peripherals, and an ARM Cortex-M0 CPU core on a single die. In addition, there are several external components required to complete the device, such as an external crystal, exit buffer, etc.
The CY24292LFXC application field includes the clock/timing functions such as: generating symmetrical rise and fall edges, generation of clock signals, power symmetry across the die, and providing a clean, filtered clock output. Also, using the embedded controller, the user may write dedicated firmware to configure the device and customize the functionality, from simple periodic functions to complex synchronous tasks. This also enables the user to extend the features available for this device.
The CY24292LFXC chip also integrates the power delivery systems and power management features. The integrated power-on-reset circuitry, the on-chip current protection and the interruptcontroller enable the user to design robust power rail management capabilities.
Regarding the working principle, the CY24292LFXC uses two different modes to generate and control the output clock signal. The dual-mode enables the user to control the output clock signal with only one signal, which is ideal for applications with low power consumption requirements. The single mode provides more flexibility, and can be used to fine tune the peripheral on the same chip within a given output clock rate. In dual mode, the CY24292LFXC works by generating a triangular waveform that is then fed into an analog comparator. The comparator will detect the rising and falling edges of the signal and convert them into two separate clock signals, one for the rising edge, and one for the falling edge. The power-on-reset pin of the device will also detect if the output frequency has been changed, to ensure that the clock and reset signals are synchronized with each other.
