CY7B994V-2BBXC can be used in many application fields, such as communication networks, storage networks, data processing, industrial automation, fiber optics and remote research instruments. Specifically, it can be used in routers, switches, network interfaces, utility and monitoring systems, media gateways, bridges, hubs and disk drives.Working Principle
CY7B994V-2BBXC utilizes a patented adaptive phase-locked-loop technology in a low-power CMOS process to generate multiple clock outputs (stop frequency range up to 825 MHz). The Integrated Digitally Controlled Crystal Oscillator (DCXO) can provide an exact 0.5 parts-per-billion (ppb) resolution in frequency as well as ± 5 % frequency accuracy over a wide range of temperatures. It also offers an extremely low additive jitter to ensure precise synchronization among different system modules.The integrated loop-control logic is designed to compensate for the instability in the crystal oscillators. This adaptive loop-control logic uses the data of long-term frequency drifts, automatically adjusts the DCXO frequency and ensures accurate phase-lock even with a 1 μs phase step. In addition, the DCXO output can clock several low jitter phase-locked loops to generate precise frequency outputs up to four times faster than the reference frequency. The high speed phase-locked-loop (PLL) supports both INT and FRACn frequency generation mode. Where in INT mode the multiples of reference frequency are generated and in the FRACn mode Fractional-N synthesis is implemented by combining modulo-N arithmetic with a programmable dual-modulus prescaler. The on-chip linear regulators can provide the necessary power supply for the PLL-based clock generators. The chip integrates a wide range of features such as voltage-controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO), divide-by-N/M and programmable digital de-glitching logic, built-in ring oscillator-based self-test logic, I2C interface and programmable interrupt controller to guarantee the highest possible system performance. Furthermore, the chip also supports frequency offset function, an important feature to fine tune the output frequency in case of any interferences in the system.To sum up, with its superior features and performance, the CY7B994V-2BBXC is ideal for clock generation in high-speed systems.
