Evaluation Boards or Digital to Analog Converters(DACs) are used to convert digital data into analog output. This allows devices to communicate with each other in terms of more accurate and precise signal measurements and transfer. The DAC3484EVM is a multi-channel evaluation board, designed to evaluate TI’s DAC3484-Q1 family of 4-channel 16-bit, low-power micro-power converters.
The multi-channel design of the DAC3484EVM allows users to evaluate up to four independent DAC outputs, with a maximum setting of 16-bit resolution. Other features of the DAC3484EVM include output amplifiers, low-pass filters, and sense filtering, providing a complete solution to any application involving voltage/current conversion.
The DAC3484EVM is suitable for use in automotive and industrial systems such as test and measurement systems, communication systems, and electronic motor control systems. In burst mode, the DAC3484EVM can continuously convert sixteen 16-bit words of input data into voltage/current output. It is also designed to meet the requirements for a wide variety of automotive, industrial and consumer electronics.
The DAC3484EVM achieves low power consumption and high accuracy, by using a digital signal processor integrated into the device. This processor enables the board to have high speed operation, and efficient data transfer. This low-power device can provide four independent 16-bit, 8-bit or 18-bit channels with up to 2.5Msps (75.6MHz) conversion rate, as well as SPI communication throughput of up to 160MHz.
When it comes to the working principle of the DAC3484EVM, it is based on a simple concept. It converts the digital signal into an analog signal at each channel, by using a digital to analog conversion. The data signals from the digital signal processor are converted by a delta-sigma modulator, which is then supplied to the output amplifier. The output amplifier is a differential output amplifier which amplifies the analog signal received and provides the output voltage of the channel.
