The DAC8742HEVM (High-Efficiency Voltage Mode Digital-to-Analog Converter Evaluation Module) is an evaluation and demonstration board and kit designed for use in high-efficiency, voltage-mode voltage-controlled digital-to-analog conversion applications. The board provides a complete design system for evaluating the performance of the DAC8742 high-efficiency voltage mode Voltage-Controlled Digital-to-Analog Converter (VCDAC). The evaluation module supports a wide range of input signal frequencies, levels and polarities, and features a flexible power supply control interface, and easy evaluation and testing options. The kit includes everything needed to quickly and easily evaluate the DAC8742’s robust, high performance, high-efficiency digital-to-analog conversion features.Working PrincipleThe DAC8742HEVM evaluation module is based on the DAC8742 High-Efficiency Voltage Mode Voltage-Controlled Digital-to-Analog Converter (VCDAC). The VCDAC utilizes a dynamic low-power voltage-mode conversion technique to achieve a high resolution and fast settling digital-to-analog conversion. The dynamic low-power approach provides excellent load regulation and temperature performance, making the DAC8742 a robust solution for high-efficiency voltage mode VCDAC applications. The VCDAC also features a low power start-up circuitry that provides low power mode when the input signal is low.The DAC8742HEVM evaluation module provides an optimized design environment to evaluate the performance of the DAC8742. The evaluation module features a multichannel data converter and sample and hold circuitry to double the resolution of the high-frequency DAC8742. The board also provides a wide range of digital input control signals allowing the user to program the input signal, gain and offset for simple or complex applications. The output of the DAC8742 is buffered by a low power op-amp to drive the load with high accuracy and minimal power loss. The module also features a power supply control interface to easily program the power supply voltage for efficient operation under varying conditions.
