DC024A-D Evaluation Boards are designed to demonstrate the primary side regulated Flyback DC/DC & AC/DC switching power supplies. The module features an integrated MOSFET for efficient and high power density performance. It includes a comprehensive range of on-board features to simplify the evaluation of power and control subsystems, and is suitable for use in a variety of off-line applications.
This evaluation board utilizes a synchronous rectified buck topology with a wide range of input and output voltage options. It offers a wide range of on-board components for the evaluation of the power and control functions, and includes a programmable switching frequency and on-board overvoltage protection. In addition, an optional boost regulator, based on a synchronous versus diode topology, is also available.
The primary power switch is based on an integrated MOSFET, which provides the necessary current and voltage to drive the power stage, while the input voltage ranges from 3.3 to 25V DC. The power sink is configured as an adjustable half-bridge synchronous rectifier, which uses an external N-Channel MOSFET and a Schottky diode as the rectifiers. A comprehensive set of control ICs are available, including a voltage feedback loop with a PWM output, the switch comparator, a driver and an adjustable ramp generator.
The DC024A-D board is highly reliable and offers a wide selection of switching converters for every application. Due to its excellent efficiency, size, and price, it is widely used in a variety of off-line applications, such as telecom, networking, automotive electronics, and consumer electronics. The power for these applications can be provided from the utility grid or stored energy such as a battery or regulated power supplies.
Working Principle: When a DC voltage is applied between the input voltage and ground terminals, current start to flow through the primary winding on the output transformer. This current induces a voltage in the secondary winding. The voltage is rectified by the bridge rectifier and the output capacitor and then filtered to provide a dc voltage. The output voltage is adjusted according to the value of the voltage feedback resistor and the regulation voltage of the PWM controller.
The DC024A-D evaluation boards feature a synchronous rectified buck topology, with a large number of current paths, allowing for high efficiency, power density, and accurate voltage regulation. The wide range of input and output voltage options, coupled with the control ICs and power components included on board, make the DC024A-D board a great choice for most off-line applications.
