DC1411A is a high-performance, low-cost signal chain, designed as a general-purpose building block for portable applications which require tightly matched gain and offset performance. It is an ideal system for a variety of diverse applications, from industrial control systems to mobile instrumentation.
DC1411A is an evaluation board that supports the evaluation of the Linear Technology LTC1411A high performance CMOS gain error amplifier. This board includes a wide variety of gain and offset features to aid designers in finding the optimal settings for their application. It also includes an accurate Input/Output calibration technique that is invaluable in systems where large accuracy and dynamic range are necessary.
DC1411A significantly improves the accuracy of most low-cost applications by utilizing a tiny calibration setup that shows no visible adjustments. It also helps reduce development time and cost by allowing testing of all of the circuit parameters prior to the final scale-up. Utilizing proper gain and offset settings in a signal chain helps to reduce power consumption and improve noise immunity.
This evaluation board is designed to standardize and simplify the design process of gain and offset for architectures utilizing the LT1411A as well as other architectures. The preconfigured resistive and capacitive network on board helps to reduce the complexity of the signal chain while increasing accuracy. DC1411A also includes a user-selectable gain control with independent gains for each channel.
The signal chain portion of the board is enabled with the push of a button and is made up of three main components: an adjustable gain amplifier IC, a digital potentiometer and two operational amplifiers that are used for buffering and precision gain control. The signal chain can be used to evaluate the noise performance and dynamic range of a system.
In addition to the gain and offset control, the DC1411A also provides an In- Out calibration feature. This enables users to easily calibrate the output of the signal chain. This feature helps to ensure a maximum dynamic range and ensures that the signal chain is linear throughout its operating range.
The DC1411A also provides a dual-channel output module that allows the output of the signal chain to be monitored on two separate channels. This is particularly useful when evaluating different gain/offset settings. It also helps with troubleshooting and debugging.
