The DC1807A-A Evaluation Board is an efficient, fully integrated, off-line, AC/DC (alternative current/direct current) switch-mode power supply (SMPS) evaluation board. It is intended for use as an evaluation tool for synchronous rectification flyback designs using an LYTSwitch-4 power thyristor module in the range of 85-140 VDC input voltage applications. The DC1807A-A is able to accurately test the performance of the E- and I-core transformers, as well as the high voltage (HV) design of the LYTSwitch-4 power thyristor.
The DC1807A-A Evaluation Board design is based on the Zilog Z8 Encore! MCU (MicroController Unit) with an MCU clocked at 48 MHz. This MCU features 8051 based micro architecture and high speed in-system programming (ISP) capability. The power management portion of the DC1807A-A Evaluation Board consists of a Pulse-Width-Modulated (PWM) Voltage Mode Controller which is capable of driving up to 300 mA at the output. The PWM Frequency of the DC1807A-A Evaluation Board is adjustable up to 2.0 MHz.
The DC1807A-A Evaluation Board also integrates the LYTSwitch-4 power thyristor, and LYTSwitch-4 enable pins, in order to provide reliable extreme input voltage protection for overloads, input shorts, and/or output short circuit conditions. The protector pin on the DC1807A-A Evaluation Board can be connected to a mechanical switch or a circuit breaker in order to implement shutdown protection. The DC1807A-A Evaluation Board also includes a safety ground and a +5V output pin in order to provide an additional level of circuitry and component protection.
In the standalone operation mode, the DC1807A-A Evaluation Board includes a power supply control system that allows the board to be powered and operated independently. The DC1807A-A Evaluation Board also includes an output voltage monitor circuit that monitors the output DC voltage for changes in the input AC voltage and in order to ensure a constant output voltage. Additionally, the DC1807A-A Evaluation Board includes a voltage loop which adjusts the operating frequency in order to maintain a constant output voltage.
The DC1807A-A Evaluation Board also contains additional support features that allow the user to monitor and configure the external power supply. These features include an LED for indicating the operating status of the DC1807A-A Evaluation Board, and the ability to adjust the operating frequency, control the output voltage, and monitor the input voltage and current. In addition, the DC1807A-A Evaluation Board is equipped with over-temperature and over-current protection circuits which manage and protect the device when external input and/or output voltage levels exceed their specified limits.
The DC1807A-A Evaluation Board is an ideal solution for evaluating SMPS designs, especially in applications which require a high degree of accuracy when it comes to power management and regulation. It is also a reliable solution for testing the reliability and performance of transformers used in flyback designs. In addition, the DC1807A-A offers a wide range of advanced features that ensure reliable and efficient operation and provide a scalable platform for evaluating various SMPS designs.
