DC1989B-C is a class of power supply evaluation board from TI, which provides a demo board for demonstrating capabilities of their off-line DC/DC & AC/DC switching mode power supplies (SMPS). This board includes multiple isolated supply rails, adjustable power output, LEDs, jog dial knob, drive and sensing inputs, and a comprehensive software support package. By leveraging the DC1989B-C evaluation board, designers can easily evaluate TI’s SMPS technology.
The DC1989B-C includes its own power supply frontend, consisting of an AC power cord, bridge rectifier, and output over-current protection circuit. The evaluation board also includes an isolated supply for an auxiliary high voltage rail, which supplies power to the gate drivers and to the output load. Multiple tabs are included on the board for configuration, monitoring, and testing.
The DC1989B-C board can be used to evaluate and test a variety of power designs. It is an ideal evaluation board for TI’s off-line SMPS products. With the DC1989B-C, designers can build and test multiple configurations of circuits to help select the best solution for their application. The board includes a variety of features, such as variable output voltage, adjustable current limit, adjustable switching frequency, transient response tracking, fault protection, and overtemperature protection.
In addition, the DC1989B-C includes an extensive software support package. The demo board software includes a comprehensive GUI with a suite of test measurements and digital control. This powerful control interface provides users the ability to accurately measure, analyze and adjust dynamic operating parameters. The GUI allows users to monitor and configure the board in real-time, as well as graph results of the test measurements. It also enables design engineers to simulate component level interaction, as well as evaluate system level performance.
The evaluation board also features a component library with pre-configured components, and two user-configurable power supply designs. The component library helps user quickly identify and evaluate the best power topologies for a given application. The user can configure their own power supplies with the included software, and evaluate the performance of the power supply in a variety of applications.
