<p>DC502A is an off-line power supply research and evaluation board from Measurement Technology Ltd (MTL). This board simplifies the process of designing, building, and testing of new digital DC-to-DC or AC-to-DC power solutions. By just entering the parameters, users can quickly build their own custom power supply solution, or they can choose from one of MTL’s existing designs. </p><p>This board allows users to quickly and easily evaluate different power supply topologies, from buck, boost, and buck-boost, to ZVS flyback, to half-bridge, full-bridge, and more. It helps engineers reduce design time by providing flexible and comprehensive solutions for any load operating condition. </p><p>DC502A is a flexible board and can be used for a variety of applications, including motor drive power supply applications, server and telecom power supplies, medical and instrumentation power supplies, and power supply for consumer appliances. The board is specifically designed to test off-line, single and multiple output SMPS designs. </p><p>DC502A’s working principle is to convert input power source into regulated output with minimum power loss and with low output noise. The working principle of the DC502A is that the input power is first converted to a DC voltage level and then fed to the power switch stage. The power switch stage is typically made of a metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) or insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT), and the voltage is regulated by adjusting the switching duty cycle. </p><p>The switching voltage is then fed to the feedback control circuit, which includes an opto-isolator and a linear voltage regulator to provide a controlled voltage output. The feedback control circuit also includes a power stage, a synchronous rectifier, and a diode rectifier circuit for controlling the voltage. Once the output voltage is regulated, it is sent to the output filter to filter out the high frequency ripple and provide a stable voltage. </p><p>In addition, the DC502A can be used to test for high-efficiency, low-ripple, current limit, and over-voltage protection features. It is designed to handle high speed switching frequencies and is capable of handling load currents up to 20A. It is also capable of running at high efficiency of more than 90% at low ripple of less than 100mV.</p><p>The DC502A can be used for both low-cost and high-end applications, offering a wide range of functions and features. It can also be used to develop custom applications for lower voltage level power supplies.
