The DC507A Evaluation Board is an LED Driver used to generate and control the output current and the operating voltage of a High Brightness LED (HBLED). This driver has a wide range of applications, from automotive lighting to TV backlighting.
The DC507A Evaluation Board is a brushless, current regulated LED Driver. It can be used to operate from 6 to 36V DCVoltage supplies, up to 600V DC LED string voltage and up to 1kV Peak LED voltage. This device features current regulation, closed loop forward current regulation, current source or sink monitoring and fault protection. It is designed for the driving of high power LEDs up to 70V and 600 mA maximum.
The DC507A Evaluation Board provides three types of operating modes: open loop, closed loop and open-loop PWM mode. In open loop mode, the driver outputs a constant current regardless of the input voltage. In closed loop mode, the driver adjusts the current according to the input voltage. In PWM mode, the driver adjusts the output current in proportion to the PWM duty cycle. The board offers a wide range of current set points, from 40mA to 600mA, and offers overcurrent protection, reverse-current protection and short circuit protection.
The main components of the DC507A Evaluation Board include two MOSFETs power switches and three half-bridge structures. The two MOSFET switches provide a convenient way to control the output current of the driver, while the half-bridge structures offer a simple and effective way to control the output voltage of the driver. Additionally, there are two LEDs, one for displaying the status of the half-bridges, and one for displaying the current set point.
The DC507A Evaluation Board also features a thermal protection circuit to protect the driver from voltage and temperature related spikes. This protection circuit triggers Air-Voltage Regulation (AVR) fault condition protection when the input voltage exceeds the maximum rated level and heat sinking is not sufficient. The board also features an internal soft start and overvoltage protection to prevent damage to the driver under certain conditions.
